1995 - SELF PORTRAITS

This series of work is a part of my ongoing exploration of perception. In other works I have focused on the use of light, visceral and conceptual, using a variety of approaches including video, printmaking and traditional painting . In this series I have integrated the use of abstract painting and digital figurative imagery in the context of music.The relationship between sound and color, especially in music, and as that relates to synesthesia, presented an additional approach to my interest in perception as a broader notion inclusive of knowledge,truth,sight,and the ineffable. In attempting to create images that could respond to this broader notion of perception I created this series of images.
